Before you even worry about cleaning this type of flooring, there are things that you can do to keep it nice, and prevent future problems that require extra cleaning and repair than if you just leave the floor and furniture on it alone completely. Brazilian cherry hardwood floor is much easier to take care of than many people think, and you just have to be aware of what you can and can’t do to keep the floor looking like new.
One big thing to remember about Brazilian cherry hardwood flooring is that you should never wax this floor, the wood shouldn’t be waxed or you could end up causing a fair amount of damage to the floor. While waxing is out of the question there is a homemade cleaning solution that you can use to keep the floor clean. Add a splash of Windex to small bucket of water so that it is a diluted solution, submerge a washcloth that will be used to clean your floor in the solution and then wring it out. Simply place a broom in the middle of the cloth and drape the cloth over the top of the broom to keep it in place and slowly sweep the floor walking behind it, it should be a light motion that will take the extra dirt of the top of the flooring.
While cleaning the Brazilian cherry hardwood floor is important, you should also take a few preventive steps to keep the floor clean of scratches and excess dirt. Any furniture that is places on the floor should have felt under the points that touch the wood, this will keep most if not all scratches away from the wood. Never drag furniture across the floor, if you move furniture place a piece of carpet, carpet side down, under it and carefully move it. Proper cleaning and prevention will help your Brazilian cherry hardwood flooring in like new condition.
